Clogged drains in Fletcher
Fletcher is one of the newer towns we work in. Census estimates show that more than half of its homes were built since 2000, so most have PVC drains instead of the cast iron and clay found in older parts of Asheville. PVC doesn't rust, and its glued joints keep roots out.
That means a clog in a Fletcher home usually comes from what went down the drain. These clogs are quick to clear and easy to prevent once you know the cause. We clear the line, tell you what was in it, and show you how to keep it from coming back.
Kitchen sinks and garbage disposals
The kitchen line is the one we clear most. A disposal grinds food small enough to leave the sink, but not small enough to keep moving through the rest of the pipe. Grease, coffee grounds, rice, pasta, and fibrous peels settle in the flat run under the house and build up until the sink backs up.
A small cable machine clears most kitchen clogs. If the line has been cabled before and keeps slowing down, the pipe wall is coated with grease, and hydro-jetting is the way to clean it.
A disposal that hums but doesn't turn is usually jammed, not broken. We free jammed disposals and replace the ones that have failed.
Main line clogs in newer homes
A newer house can still have a main line problem. The trench for the sewer line is filled in when the house is built. As that soil settles over the years, a section of pipe can sink and hold water. Paper and solids collect in the low spot until the line clogs.
The signs are the same as any main line backup: several drains slow at once, a toilet that gurgles when the washer drains, or water coming up in a tub or shower. A camera inspection shows whether the line has a low spot and how long it is.
Sewer service in Fletcher
Fletcher is in Henderson County, but its sewer system is run by the Metropolitan Sewerage District of Buncombe County (MSD), which took over the former Cane Creek system in 2020. MSD maintains the sewer mains. The service line from your house to the main is the owner's to maintain.
Restaurants and businesses
We clear kitchen lines, floor drains, and restroom drains for restaurants, shops, and offices along Hendersonville Road and near the airport. Commercial work is scheduled early in the day so it is finished before you open.
They were highly knowledgeable and had the right tools ready to unclog our main line that had massive amounts of roots grown into it. Their expertise and kindness really shown through!
