Clogged drains in Candler
Candler is spread out. Houses sit on larger lots, farther back from the road, and the line that carries waste away from the house is often much longer than it would be in town. A longer line has more joints, more places for roots to get in, and more chances to settle and hold water.
Most single clogs here are the same as anywhere: a kitchen sink full of grease, a tub slowed by hair, a toilet stopped by wipes. We clear those with a cable machine. When the main line is the problem, the length of the run and where it ends are the first things we find out.
Sewer or septic: the first thing to know
Parts of Candler and Enka connect to the Metropolitan Sewerage District of Buncombe County (MSD). Many rural lots have a septic tank and a drain field instead. If you pay a sewer charge on a utility bill, you are on public sewer. If you don't, you are almost certainly on septic.
It matters because the two fail in different ways. On public sewer, a house where every drain is slow has a blocked main line, and we clear it. On septic, the same symptoms can mean a full tank or a failing drain field, and no amount of drain cleaning will fix that.
We clear clogged drain lines in homes on septic, including the line from the house to the tank. We do not pump or repair septic tanks or drain fields. If we find that the tank is the problem, we tell you so you can call a septic company.
Long lines and camera inspection
On a long line, guessing gets expensive. A camera inspection shows what is in the pipe and how far from the house it is, so a repair can be planned for the right spot instead of trenching the whole yard.
We recommend a camera when a main line has backed up more than once, when large trees stand over the line, or when you are buying a house with an older line.
Drain pipe in crawlspaces
Many Candler homes have their drain piping in a crawlspace. When a hanger fails, the pipe sags, and waste collects in the low spot until the line clogs. Cleaning opens it, but it will clog again until the pipe is put back on a proper slope.
If we find a sagging or broken section while we are under the house, we show you and give you a price to repair it.
They were highly knowledgeable and had the right tools ready to unclog our main line that had massive amounts of roots grown into it. Their expertise and kindness really shown through!
